Hello! My name is Steven Kruyne, and I'm an Electrical Engineer with over a decade of experience. My journey began in the beautiful islands of Hawaii, but I was raised in Virginia, where I cultivated my passion for engineering and technology.
I am a proud alumnus of Virginia Tech, where I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. My education laid the foundation for a successful career, equipping me with the skills and knowledge to excel in my field.
With ten years of hands-on experience, I am a licensed professional engineer in nine states. My expertise spans various facets of electrical engineering, and I hold certifications in lighting design. I have also contributed to the industry through my involvement with the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), serving in several board positions at our local chapter.
One of my proudest achievements is my certification in lighting design and my active participation in the IES. These accomplishments highlight my dedication to advancing the field of electrical engineering and promoting excellence in lighting design.
Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family. I enjoy playing with my kids and exploring the scenic beauty of Charlottesville with my wife. In my downtime, you can often find me engrossed in a good book or engaged in a strategic board game.
Professionally, I am striving to achieve LEED AP certification, a testament to my commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible engineering practices. Personally, I am on a journey of self-improvement, learning the Japanese language and teaching myself to play the piano.
I am passionate about fostering a love for STEM education among children, particularly those who are underrepresented in the field. Additionally, I advocate for ensuring that children with health concerns have access to the care they need, believing that every child deserves a chance to thrive.
